Where Were You In 1963? - An Introduction

November 23, 1963, the United States was a nation in mourning. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated the day before and Lyndon Johnson was just sworn in. In Asia, the tensions were mounting in Vietnam. Beatlemania was brewing in the United Kingdom and not yet about to explode into epic proportions internationally until 1964 with their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. It was six years before my parents even met, my mother only a few weeks shy of her 15th birthday, my father a 20 year old English Major at the University of Miami. I wasn't even thought of and wouldn't come into any form of existence until almost 15 years later.

On November 23, 1963, a Science-Fiction television program premiered on the BBC, which has found its way into the hearts of millions of people, especially Science-Fiction fans. That show was called Doctor Who. And in the many years that it's been on, The Doctor, along with his companions, allies, enemies, and every weird critter and alien that was thought of, have found their way into my heart.
